Continue reading below to find out not only what planet rules you, but also your profection year. You can use this information to pick out and pay attention to the relevant planetary transits in the current year.
Sun
The Sun is the planetary ruler of the sign of Leo. If this is the ruler of your profection year, look especially to the Sun’s 12 transits through the signs throughout the year for what movement to take throughout the year ahead. You will probably have a larger focus on yourself, how you are presenting to and perceived by others, your personal image, and how you find joy and purpose in being yourself.
Moon
The Moon is the planetary ruler for the sign of Cancer. The Moon is the closest of these astral bodies to home, and home is one of Cancer’s core themes. The Moon moves from sign to sign to void to sign every other day or so. The years ruled by the moon will be emotionally tumultuous, and hold key information about healing and how you cope with the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Mercury
Mercury is the planetary ruler for both Gemini and Virgo. Mercury represents our minds, how we think about things, communication on verbal, analog, and technological levels, travel, and physical connections we make in the day to day real world. If this planet is ruling your profection year, pay attention to the retrogrades more than other years! These will be important periods of reflection and rest for you throughout the year. Let the planet show you new things about how you can interact with the world around you as it travels through the signs.
Venus
Venus is the planetary ruler of both Taurus and Libra. Venus is the planet of values, how you like to receive love, your sense of harmony in life, and also responsible for evolution of your personal tastes over time. When Venus is ruling your year, you’re in a good position to evaluate whats important to you. When you stick to your values you can feel good about every day, no matter what happens. Venus will help you indulge in the most centered version of yourself if you let it.
Mars
Mars is the planetary ruler of Aries and Scorpio traditionally. Mars energy entails our drive, our desires, and our determination. Mars being the ruler of your year can highlight ways you deal with conflict. When Mars is ruling your progression through the year you can expect to be confronted with some of your less proud traits in moments of unsound judgment, acting on destructive impulses. Don’t let shame or anger drain your own power and redirect it to radical compassion and determination to switch it up and keep working towards what you want.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the planetary ruler of both Sagittarius and Pisces traditionally. Jupiter is the largest known planet that revolves around our Sun, and it governs expansion, acquisition of wealth, abundance, and wisdom, and philosophical thought. In a year governed by Jupiter you’re liable to experience good luck, positive occurrences, and mindset altering paradigm shifts. Pick up books, watch informational videos, learn about other cultures, and discover new meaning in your life. You don’t know what you don’t know, and Jupiter is a kind teacher to learn under. Check what sign Jupiter is transiting through and integrate those themes into your period of growth.
Saturn
Saturn is the planetary ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius traditionally. Saturn rules over the energies of boundaries, limitations, consistency, and order. Saturn as a planetary ruler will act as an authority. Depending on what sign it is transiting through, Saturn will ask you to become very honest and adopt a renewed sense of integrity about your life’s work and chosen purpose in life. Its the tough love planet that tells you when you’re doing too much and when you’re not doing enough. Learn the rules before you break them. That’s how you know which ones need to be kept and which ones need to be broken. Saturn will make sure you are aware of if you are progressing in your year or not.
Uranus
Uranus came to be the secondary planetary ruler of Aquarius when they later discovered the planet. Uranus represents tumult, upheaval, new technology, and revolution. When you are under the influence of a profection year ruled by Uranus it is possible that you more likely to choose to present in a way that affects the world at large. You could be taking advantage of the international interweb community, taking your values to the streets in visible actions, or contributing an innovative or ingenuitive process or technology to society. Uranus ruled years can be full of surprising moments and sudden shifts towards rapid change.
Neptune
Neptune came to be the secondary ruler of Pisces after it was discovered. Neptune was dubbed the ruler of illusion, mystery, fantasy, supernatural beliefs, and spiritual tendencies. When Neptune rules a year it is a favorable time for creation and expression in visual, musical, and/or written media. Neptune may contribute confusing or unclear energy to your life in a profection year which it rules, and part of Neptune’s wisdom is allowing the confusion to foster clarity. From fog comes what we think we see, and when what’s really there becomes clear, our feelings on the matter can teach us about ourselves. Never knowing can be just as gratifying as discovery. You can appreciate the beauty of what’s possible without striving to fit all possibilities to your reality.
Pluto
Pluto became the secondary ruler of Scorpio once it was discovered. Pluto is the farthest planet from the Sun. Pluto is also the smallest of all of the known planets in orbit around the Sun. Pluto rules the energies of the parts of ourselves we distance ourselves from the most; shame, deeply hidden desires, and the seeds to the parts of yourself you have yet to grow and have yet to break the surface of their incubation capsule. When Pluto is ruling your year, you have the opportunity to nurture some of these young seeds which are actually part of the oldest versions of you. Pluto will guide your transformation to an even more authentic version of yourself to show up in every day life.
