Planetary Rulers: Explained

Planetary rulers are the planets that rule over a specified person or profection year (which I explained in my last post). The concept of planetary rulers helps us hone in on some of the most valuable opportunities for growth throughout a year.

Each year our planetary ruler will switch from one celestial body to the next as we travel through our birth chart. You can also check which house that planet was in when you were born - the sign the planet is in currently will tell you more about current day to day happenings, and the sign it was in when you were born will give you insight into your innate tendencies and inclinations.

So a Taurus rising is natally ruled by Venus, and may tend towards exploring and expressing their values, their senses, and their pleasure - yet, in a fifth house profection year as a 17 or 29 year old, they are co-ruled by Mercury, overlaying grounded sensory enjoyment with the sense of being ungrounded and unsatisfied.
